INTERCONTINENTAL IMPRINT
MEDIUM: EMBOSSED COTTON PAPER
“This series consists of 10 embossings of custom-made dresses handmade by my grandma (Gogo) for me and my sister’s teddy bears. When I was growing up, Gogo lived in South Africa, and when I saw her every few years, she would give me these dresses.
The act of leaving a physical indent in the paper through embossing, and the subtlety of the textural image only being visible in the right light, relates to how Gogo and her love of sewing has shaped my own artistic practice, as well as the seemingly transparent, yet strong and long-lasting impression that Gogo, her dresses and my teddy bears have had on me.”
